Atty. Ephraim Cortez, President of the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL), underscored that decisions rendered by the Senate sitting as an Impeachment Court are final and generally immune from judicial interference, barring clear evidence of grave abuse of discretion.
Cortez noted that consulting retired Supreme Court chief justices as amicus curiae will assist the Senate in establishing a legally sound process for computing the required two-thirds vote.
