Ray Talimio Jr., Co-Chairperson of the Economic Development Committee RDC-X, made it clear that the actions of former Senate President Sotto and Senator Lacson were carried out to protect the President regarding anomalies in the flood control project.
However, Talimio explained that they still do not have sufficient documents or basis to file a case since the investigation did not push through.
Despite this, he assured that the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee may continue the investigation this June to examine these emerging issues.
On the other hand, he emphasized that even though there is no longer time to impeach the President now, the Ombudsman or Sandiganbayan can still pursue the case after his term when he no longer has immunity.
Furthermore, Talimio pointed out that such scenarios may happen due to the many pressing problems, such as the looming threat of a Super El Niño that has not yet been given adequate attention by the national government.
