Wilson Amad, convenor of the People’s Constitutional Reform Initiative (PCRI), is pressing the government to tighten its grip on fuel and basic commodity prices to shield consumers from unfair hikes.
He argued that companies should be compelled to submit inventory reports to expose hoarding or premature price increases, even on old stock.
According to Amad, goods from existing inventory must not be repriced until supplies are fully depleted.
He added that surprise inspections would serve as a powerful deterrent against profiteering, ensuring businesses cannot exploit global tensions at the expense of ordinary citizens.
The latest oil price hike ranges from P13-24/L increase.
