Cathy Estavillo of the AMIHAN National Federation of Peasant Women announced that agricultural workers raised demands for immediate disaster relief during September 21 demonstrations following ₱4.3 billion in crop damage from recent typhoons and monsoonal flooding.
Estavillo reported that farmgate palay prices have dropped to ₱13–₱16 per kilogram while production costs doubled, urging government intervention to halt rice imports and bolster domestic agricultural support.
