AMIHAN National Federation of Peasant Women Spokesperson Cathy Estavillo reported that agricultural workers and women farmers gathered in the capital to demand government relief ahead of Super El Niño climate impacts.
Estavillo noted that large-scale renewable energy installations and floating solar projects on agricultural lands have disrupted local farming livelihoods alongside seasonal drought conditions.
She urged the Department of Agriculture, DAR, and DENR to expedite irrigation funding and local production subsidies rather than relying on food imports.
