Pat Jared Pangantihon of PMCJ Mindanao criticized the Department of Finance for favoring Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) over national funding options for the repair of the Agus-Pulangi Hydroelectric Power Complex.
Pangantihon highlighted that the government could utilize existing public reserves, such as sovereign wealth funds, to finance critical energy infrastructure directly without taking on foreign debt or privatizing state assets.
The organization expressed concern that privatization schemes compromise public control over essential utilities.
