Police have expanded their monitoring of long-standing notorious drug dens in the city after shabu worth 3.4 million pesos was seized in Barangay 36, Cagayan de Oro City last July 27.

In an interview, Police Regional Office 10 Spokesperson PMAJ Joann Navarro revealed that they will verify whether the said barangay, which served as a drop-off and transaction point for illegal drugs, has truly been cleared of drugs.

The operation became controversial because the arrested High Value Individual, an alias Rio, 30 years old and a resident of Barangay Patag, was previously jailed in Lumbia for a series of robberies but posted bail and quickly shifted to selling illegal drugs.

Because of this, police are preparing formal charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 against the arrested suspect and an ongoing manhunt for an accomplice known as alias Jojo.
