Chaos and rising tensions could potentially mar the resumption of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee investigation this coming June, according to Ray Talimio Jr., Co-Chairperson of the Economic Development Committee (RDC-X).
He revealed there is a strong possibility that President Marcos might invoke executive prerogative over government agencies like the NBI, PNP, and DOJ to prevent them from attending the hearing.
Because of this, the committee might be forced to issue subpoenas, which could escalate to citing officials for contempt for disregarding their processes.
Talimio also emphasized that the composition of the committee must lean heavily toward majority members to ensure that the final report can still be signed even if minority senators refuse to sign.
Ultimately, he explained that this strategy by the administration is a sign that the conflict between the involved parties will only intensify in the coming days.
