Residents of Zone 2B, Barangay Mabuaya, condemned the planned power disconnection. Lay theologian Wilson C. Amad called on the Commission on Human Rights to act against what he described as abuse.
He revealed that around 300 families live in fear after receiving notices of disconnection, even though the issue was supposed to be temporary since 2024.
Amad said the landowner’s refusal was being used as a pretext to cut electricity for residents who refuse to vacate.
He also expressed concern that fathers avoid returning home out of fear of planted evidence during possible police raids.
Amad warned residents not to rely on politicians, as none have helped them in their difficult situation.
