DepEd Cagayan de Oro did not recommend implementing the proposal to require transparent bags for school security, citing that it would only add a financial burden to parents and students.
Ryan Blanco, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Officer of DepEd CDO, clarified that while it could help ensure everyone’s safety, it cannot be mandated immediately across schools due to the financial standing of each family.
The official reminded the public that most parents enroll their children in public schools to save on expenses and ensure their education continues.
Because of this, the official assured that with or without transparent bags, strict security monitoring for students will continue across the city.
