Cagayan de Oro City Councilor Eric Salcedo dismissed online reports claiming that residents from neighboring provinces are barred from entering Cagayan de Oro under the new transport ordinance, calling the rumors completely false and “fake news.”
Salcedo clarified that turning visitors away would be illegal.
He explained that the policy strictly regulates provincial public utility vehicles, requiring them to drop off passengers at designated terminals on the city’s east and west borders.
To assist commuters, the city government is coordinating with the LTFRB to adjust transit fares based on exact route distances, ensuring lower costs for incoming passengers connecting to local city transport.
