Ryan Blanco, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) officer of DepEd CDO, announced that preparations are underway to address the threat of El Niño.
In coordination with the CDRRM Council and other government departments, Blanco assured the creation of contingency plans to respond to possible drought.
He added that each school is required to prepare its own plan, such as storing water in drums, since situations vary across hinterland, downtown, and uptown schools.
Despite the hot weather, Blanco said discussions continue to ensure that face-to-face classes will not be canceled.
He urged all school DRRM coordinators and principals to work together in implementing precautionary measures during this period.
