Attorney Antonio Soriano of Citizens Watch for Good Governance observed that the Senate has tight control over the ongoing impeachment trial against Vice President Sara Duterte.
He noted that almost all senators were present during the proceedings and discipline among members of the court was evident.
Despite minor disputes over who should preside, Senator Chiz Escudero was eventually chosen as presiding officer of the Senate Impeachment Court.
Soriano said the trial’s opening showed good progress and strong management by the senators.
