Kagay-anon lawyer Atty. Samson So Tan questioned the reasoning behind the 60-day preventive suspension of senators involved in plunder cases, specifically Senators Rodante Marcoleta and Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada.
According to the lawyer, there is no direct connection between voting in an impeachment court and influencing the Sandiganbayan’s decision on a criminal case.
Atty. Tan believes it is clear the senators were suspended solely to prevent them from participating in impeachment proceedings.
He challenged authorities to expedite the resolution of the cases, especially since some individuals, like Senator Marcoleta, have already been cleared by the court.
