Misamis Oriental Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Carlito Ravelo noted a strong likelihood that legal challenges against the postponement of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) will reach the Supreme Court following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s signing of legislation deferring local polls to 2028.
Ravelo affirmed that interested organizations retain the legal right to challenge the statute’s constitutionality before the high court.
He emphasized that unless the Supreme Court issues a temporary restraining order or injunctive writ, the newly enacted law remains valid and fully binding on the Commission on Elections.
