Fr. Der John Faborada of the Social Communication Apostolate of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oro has clarified that the Church’s teachings do not encourage belief in psychics or their predictions regarding life events, such as natural disasters.

Instead, the official explained that priority should be given to placing one’s trust in God and becoming an instrument of His love for others, especially during times of hardship.

Fr. Faborada further stated that humans cannot predict natural disasters like earthquakes and typhoons because these are part of the world’s dynamic natural processes, which are beyond human control.

Therefore, he reminded the faithful that instead of relying on predictions, it is better to be prepared and to help one another so that others may feel the presence of God through such acts of service.
