UNIDA President Joel Gabatan announced that public transport operators may organize a coordinated strike if the national government fails to address escalating fuel prices.
Gabatan outlined the organization’s primary policy demands: a ₱2 fare hike to set the minimum fare at ₱15, the removal of the 12 percent Value Added Tax on petroleum products, and the reform of the Oil Deregulation Law.
He emphasized that structural legislative relief is required to prevent widespread transport shutdowns.
