To bring the minimum jeepney fare to ₱15, the United Drivers Association (UNIDA) filed a petition with the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) seeking a ₱2 fare hike.
UNIDA President Joel Gabatan also proposed a direct fuel discount of ₱10 to ₱15 per liter at the pump instead of the current, cumbersome fuel subsidy listing system.
Gabatan voiced frustration that many drivers have yet to receive government subsidies despite rising fuel costs.
The transport leader expressed hope that national agencies will approve their requests, along with suspending the Oil Deregulation Law and excise taxes, to provide immediate relief to drivers.
