KADAMAY Secretary General Mimi Doringo renewed calls for the nationalization of the oil industry and the immediate removal of Value-Added Tax (VAT) and excise taxes on petroleum products amid rising fuel costs.

Doringo proposed that eliminating fuel taxes could reduce pump prices to ₱55 per litre, providing financial relief to public transport drivers.

She argued that state tax collections of ₱544 million daily from fuel, combined with high oil company profits, demonstrate that fiscal sacrifices should be borne by corporations and the government rather than citizens.
