Amihan National Federation of Peasant Women Secretary General Cathy Estavillo expressed deep concern over extensive flood damage to agricultural lands across Luzon, warning of impending hunger among farming communities.

Estavillo reported that heavy rains destroyed over 4,465 metric tons of rice and other crops across Tarlac, Pangasinan, La Union, Cavite, and Nueva Ecija, resulting in estimated damages of ₱1.35 billion.

The crisis was exacerbated by rising fuel and fertilizer costs, alongside water releases from Ambuklao Dam that inundated vegetable and strawberry farms in Mountain Province.

Estavillo warned that these severe losses will drive farmers deeper into debt ahead of the final harvest season.
