Student Council Alliance of the Philippines Mindanao Chairperson John Philip Talaba criticized proposed congressional anti-political dynasty legislation, describing it as weak due to its narrow scope.
Talaba noted that while the legislative draft only prohibits relatives up to the second degree of consanguinity, the “Dapat Isa Lang” movement seeks to extend restrictions to the fourth degree.
He emphasized that single-family dominance concentrates absolute political power and fuels systemic corruption, calling on youth voters to support the people’s initiative to dismantle entrenched political families.
