On the evening of February 5, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office X convened an inter-agency meeting with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) and lead disaster response agencies in Northern Mindanao.
The meeting, held before Typhoon Basyang made landfall, activated Quick Response Teams, ensured the readiness of the Mobile Kitchen and Mobile Command Center, and deployed 24/7 Disaster Response Management Division personnel to monitor conditions at the Regional Operations Center.
Coordination centered on aligning response actions, real-time information sharing, and rapid mobilization of resources to meet the needs of families expected to be affected.
Despite suspended office operations, DSWD confirmed that food and non-food items had been prepositioned, including 200,000 food packs ready for distribution through local government units, especially in barangays anticipated to suffer severe flooding.
Shaira Agulan, Information Officer of DSWD-10’s Disaster Response Management Division, emphasized that supplies were prepared to reinforce local relief efforts once the storm struck.
