The Department of Energy (DOE) has warned that the Philippines could face its steepest fuel price hike next week, with gasoline expected to rise by ₱11–₱13 per liter, diesel by ₱22–₱24, and kerosene by ₱33–₱36, far higher than the combined increases of previous weeks.
Current DOE data show diesel at ₱75 per liter possibly climbing to ₱94, while gasoline may reach ₱87, driven by surging global crude oil prices amid Middle East tensions and supply chain concerns.
The looming crisis is set to hit both the transport sector and households reliant on kerosene, prompting the government to study possible relief measures to ease the burden on consumers.
Authorities emphasized that swift intervention is crucial to cushion the economic impact and protect vulnerable sectors from the ripple effects of global instability.
