The Sandiganbayan has released a warrant of arrest against Senator Jinggoy Estrada after finding probable cause in the case filed by the Ombudsman.
According to Atty. Jojo Lacalinao, lead convenor of the Duterte Panagutin Network Campaign, this is a serious development since the case faced by the senator is non-bailable.
While some statements claim the charges are politically motivated, Lacalinao clarified that the court’s decision was based on evidence showing reasonable certainty of conviction.
As a result, all eyes are now on the progress of the trial, which could take several years before reaching either justice or possible acquittal.
Meanwhile, political debates are expected to intensify as Senator Estrada continues to deny the accusations and frame the case within a political context.
