Coco Naik, Chairperson of Filipinos Migrant Workers PDP Laban, said he was not surprised by the arrest of Senator Jinggoy Estrada, which is non-bailable, claiming it was part of a plan by the minority bloc.

He noted that this is not a new occurrence, pointing out that even a former DILG secretary once led the arrest of a senator who had been given a mandate by the people through election.

Naik remarked that Senator Estrada showed firmness in his principles and did not yield to persuasion despite the serious charges he faces.

However, he questioned the process, arguing that senators hold greater authority compared to presidential appointees.

He added that public dismay is growing as the administration appears to disregard the independence of different branches of government.
