Local historian Engr. Raul Ilogon reminded Filipinos that Independence Day is a time to honor the nation’s heritage, as many sacrificed their lives for the country to become free and sovereign.
He emphasized that the current state of the nation is the responsibility of its people and should not be blamed on heroes or ancestors.
Despite this, Ilogon encouraged everyone to continue striving and to study the lives of national heroes more deeply. He also inspired citizens to keep doing good each day for the benefit of the country,
underscoring that patriotism is not only about remembering the past but also about contributing to the nation’s progress in the present.
