Coco Naik, Chairperson of the Migrant Workers Committee, declared that the move by Senator Win Gatchalian’s group to assume the Senate presidency was illegal, citing their failure to present evidence of a 12-member quorum.
Naik described the issuance of a press release concerning employee salaries and benefits as a form of sabotage intended to counter the Supreme Court’s ruling.
He noted that this has caused significant concern among Senate employees due to alleged interference by high-ranking officials.According to Naik, there has been no precedent in Senate history where an official released such documents.
He insisted that the Supreme Court’s decision was clear—that the quorum claimed by Acting Senate President Pro Tempore Gatchalian lacked sufficient legal basis.
