The policy on tax refunds for foreign tourists in the country has now been clarified after being upheld by the Supreme Court.
According to teacher and petitioner John Barry T. Tayam, not all purchases by foreigners qualify for refunds, as there is a set limit of 3,000 pesos.
He added that one requirement is that the products must be brought out of the Philippines within 60 days of purchase.
He explained that this measure is merely an incentive to encourage tourism and does not mean that all items bought by tourists are exempt from taxes.
