Lay theologian Wilson C. Amad expressed support for the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ plan to establish a military space center as part of modern defense development.
Amad described the initiative as a futuristic and necessary step to safeguard national security, serving as a stronger basis for monitoring threats to Philippine territory.
He emphasized that this strategy highlights the Philippines’ undisputed ownership of Batanes, citing oceanographic data and the Treaty of Paris of 1898. The project, targeted for completion by 2028, is seen as a wise move to protect the country’s Exclusive Economic Zone.
