The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) opened an investigation into suspected internal involvement following the theft and substitution of a impounded dump truck carrying millions of pesos worth of mineral ores from a Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) facility.
Police Regional Office 10 Spokesperson Police Major Joann Navarro confirmed the incident occurred on August 30, when a vehicle seized in Opol last July 3 was swapped with a matching vehicle of the same color and license plate after its mineral contents were removed.
Authorities have identified persons of interest as the investigation proceeds toward filing formal criminal charges.
