Following the shooting incident involving two police officers in Sitio Lumboy, Indahag, another 47-year-old police officer lost his life after being rammed by a Mitsubishi Xpander driven by an intoxicated retired soldier during a checkpoint operation in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental on September 21.
According to PRO-10 Spokesperson PMAJ Joan Navarro, the 60-year-old suspect was driving at high speed, and a breathalyzer test confirmed he was under the influence of alcohol prior to the collision.
The suspect is currently in custody facing criminal charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide.
In light of this tragedy, police authorities issued a stern warning to all motorists against drunk driving to prevent fatal accidents.
