Cagayan de Oro City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department Head Nick Jabagat announced that local authorities have granted public and private schools discretion to suspend in-person classes due to forecast heat indices reaching 41 to 42 degrees Celsius.
Jabagat explained that school administrators can adjust learning modes based on campus infrastructure and student safety requirements.
He advised academic institutions to monitor local weather updates as municipal disaster teams remain prepared to extend assistance.
