United People’s Initiative (UPI) Legal Counsel Atty. Melchor Magdamo expressed confidence that the Supreme Court will grant their urgent petition to preserve the constitutional two-thirds voting threshold for the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Magdamo stated that despite potential political pressures surrounding the upcoming retirement of Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo, members of the High Bench will uphold constitutional principles.
He reiterated the group’s trust in the judiciary to prevent procedural departures and curb potential abuses of power.
