Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School Principal Melendi Catid clarified that the student caught on video slapping a peer inside a mini‑mart restroom was no longer enrolled at the school.
In an exclusive interview with Bombo Radyo, Catid explained that the individual was a dropout who had worn the school’s official uniform during the incident, creating the impression that he was still a student.
The investigation revealed that the bully and the victim were acquaintances, and the confrontation stemmed from a dispute over borrowed money that was not repaid.
According to Catid, the suspect resorted to physical aggression and humiliation by recording the assault to shame the victim publicly.
She added that the issue has already been addressed, with the victim’s parents filing a blotter against the suspect.
The clarification aims to protect the school’s reputation and assure the public that the viral incident did not involve any of its current students, while also highlighting the growing concern over youth violence and the misuse of social media to amplify such acts.
