The Office of the Ombudsman has formally filed a plunder case and three counts of violation of Presidential Decree No. 46 before the Sandiganbayan against Senator Rodante Marcoleta, former congressman Mike Defensor, and two businessmen.
The charges stem from the alleged non-declaration of ₱75 million in donations received by Marcoleta during his 2025 election campaign, which he previously admitted came from donors.
After the raffle of cases to different Sandiganbayan divisions, it remains to be seen whether the court will issue warrants of arrest against the accused.
The Ombudsman clarified that its decision to file the cases was based purely on evidence, stressing that no party was favored in the enforcement of the law.
