Assistant Ombudsman Atty. Mico Clavano revealed that the Office of the Ombudsman has received multiple credible reports of former House Speaker Martin Romualdez attempting to leave the country.
These reports surfaced despite the Precautionary Hold Departure Order (PHDO) issued against him by the Sandiganbayan. Clavano stressed that such actions undermine the authority of the court order.
The Ombudsman has therefore called on government agencies to ensure that Romualdez is barred from leaving Philippine territory.
Authorities were urged to take firm measures to prevent any possible departure and uphold the rule of law.
