CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Tingog Partylist Representative Jude A. Acidre revealed alleged irregularities in the Department of Education’s (DepEd) use of confidential funds during the 20th day of Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment hearing.
In an exclusive interview with BOMBO RADYO, Acidre emphasized that two Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) officers testified they received no financial support from DepEd for the Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) held in 2022 and 2023. AFP Colonels Manaros Boransing II and Magtanggol Panopio confirmed they were surprised to learn that their certificates of appearance had been used by DepEd as part of its liquidation of confidential funds.
Acidre clarified that the youth summits had long been organized before Duterte assumed office as DepEd Secretary, stressing that the certificates were never intended as proof of payment for confidential operations or intelligence activities.
The prosecution underscored that DepEd’s use of these documents for liquidation constitutes a serious violation of the intended purpose of confidential funds.
