Major General Michelle Anayron, Commanding General of the 4th Infantry Diamond Division (4ID), expressed pride that before the end of his term as commander, he was able to save many lives through the campaign against armed groups.
He reported that of more than a hundred members once identified by the military, about 70 percent chose to surrender to the government.
He emphasized that the number of deaths was far fewer compared to those who abandoned the armed struggle and returned to peaceful civilian life.
According to Anayron, successive military operations and encounters encouraged many rebels to lay down their arms and yield to government forces.
He stressed that for her, the number of lives saved is far more important than the count of those killed in battle.
Anayron recognized this as one of the most significant achievements of 4ID in its campaign for lasting peace in the region.
