CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Philippines – The 4th Infantry Division (4ID) of the Philippine Army has significantly weakened the remaining members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) operating in Caraga and Northern Mindanao.

This development was confirmed by 4ID spokesperson Lieutenant colonel Francisco Garello Jr.

In a recent operation in Bukidnon, several CPP-NPA members surrendered to the government, handing over their weapons and other war equipment.

Garello highlighted that this surrender marks a crucial step in diminishing the rebel group’s strength in the region.

Additionally, two CPP-NPA members were killed in an encounter with 4ID troops in Caraga.

He emphasized that the remaining rebels should seize the opportunity to return to the fold of the government, assuring them of a chance to reintegrate into society and live peacefully.

The 4ID continues to urge the remaining CPP-NPA members to lay down their arms and take advantage of the government’s reintegration programs.

This initiative aims to restore peace and order in the affected areas, ensuring a safer environment for all residents.
