Former Magdalo party-list Representative Gary Alejano expressed support for the National Bureau of Investigation’s move to probe the explosive allegations made by 18 former marine soldiers.

In a joint affidavit, the soldiers claimed that huge sums of money were handed to certain government officials.

Alejano stressed in an interview with Bombo Radyo that the accusations are far from ordinary, as they involve serious charges of corruption and possible misuse of public funds, particularly in projects like flood control.

He emphasized that if officials are indeed involved in siphoning government funds, they must be exposed and held accountable under the law.

However, Alejano also raised questions about the credibility of the claims, especially the staggering figure of over ₱805 billion allegedly distributed, an amount he described as logistically implausible to move and allocate.

For him, it is crucial that investigators thoroughly examine every detail of the affidavit to determine whether the allegations have a solid basis before drawing conclusions.
