The Federation of Free Workers (FFW) has appealed to the government to include labor representatives in policy-making discussions on the economic and employment impacts of the Middle East crisis.

In an interview with Bombo Radyo, FFW President Atty. Sonny Matula proposed convening the National Tripartite Industrial Peace Council, bringing together government, employers, and trade unions to plan measures that could ease the effects of rising oil prices and other economic challenges on Filipino workers.

Matula stressed that direct worker participation is crucial for the government to understand the real conditions of the labor sector.

He also noted that the International Trade Union Confederation Asia Pacific has called for an immediate emergency ceasefire between Israel and Iran to prevent further disruption to the global economy.

He commended the United Nations for leading diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict, emphasizing that preventing a deeper crisis is vital to protect workers worldwide.
