Political analyst Atty. Edward Chico emphasized that the statements of Ramil Madriaga against Vice President Sara Duterte must first undergo cross‑examination to properly assess their credibility.
Chico explained that under legal procedure, a testimony cannot be considered strong unless it has been tested through direct examination, cross‑examination, and comparison with other evidence.
At present, he noted, Madriaga’s claims remain at the evidentiary stage since they have not yet been subjected to rigorous questioning by the opposing side.
He added that it is important to determine whether the allegations are true, supported by documents, and consistent with common human experience.
Chico stressed that it is premature to declare the statements either true or false until the proper process of scrutiny is completed.
