Members of the Cagayan de Oro First Taxi Drivers Alliance (CAFITADA) successfully aired their grievances during the City Council’s Committee on Public Utilities meeting.
CAFITADA President Bernie Jamaca said the session, led by Councilor Eric Salsedo and attended by representatives from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), tackled pressing issues affecting legitimate taxi operators. Among the concerns raised was the proliferation of colorum taxis, which drivers argued are hurting the income of duly franchised units.
The alliance also pressed for solutions to remove these illegal operators from the streets.
In addition, Jamaca’s request for a ₱10 increase in the flagdown rate is now under review, a move they believe will help offset rising costs and sustain their livelihood.
