Misamis Oriental Governor Juliette Uy has chosen silence over confrontation as the provincial board intensifies accusations linking her to illegal mining activities in the province’s uplands.
Speaking during the flag-raising ceremony at the provincial capitol, Uy clarified that engaging with the camp of Majority Floor Leader Dexter Yasay would only waste time and bring no benefit to the people.
Instead, she encouraged her detractors to focus on meaningful work that would secure a brighter future for Misamis Oriental.
The governor stressed that she is not “foolish” enough to exploit provincial equipment for mining, noting that it is not in her nature to chase after gold.
She countered Yasay and Board Member Rommel Magto, saying she would not be intimidated even if they brought the issue to Congress or the Senate.
According to Uy, the real mining operations are tied to Yasay’s camp, not hers.
