The Philippines has officially been classified as an upper middle-income country by the World Bank based on Gross National Income per capita.
However, economist Ray Talimio Jr. clarified that this is merely a statistical classification and does not mean every Filipino earns ₱22,800 monthly.
He stressed that the government must explain the classification, as it contrasts with the current hardships experienced by many citizens.
Talimio acknowledged that the progress reflects the collective efforts of past administrations, not solely the current leadership.
