CEPALCO Vice President Marilyn Chavez clarified that the recent spike in electricity bills experienced by some households is not due to the fuel crisis but rather to increased power consumption.
In her interview with Bombo Radyo, Chavez explained that usage typically rises during the summer months because of heavier reliance on air conditioners, electric fans, and refrigerators.
She added that children staying at home during vacation and more frequent cooking also contribute to higher consumption.
Based on CEPALCO’s monitoring of complaints, most consumers eventually realized that their electricity usage had indeed gone up in recent weeks.
Chavez emphasized the importance of closely monitoring household consumption to avoid unexpectedly high bills in upcoming billing periods.
