Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s legal team still retains the right to file a motion for reconsideration, even if the chances of reversing the Supreme Court’s decision are slim.
Atty. Eddie Cuaresma, former IBP MisOr-CDO Chapter President, explained that the Supreme Court rarely overturns its initial rulings unless new evidence or arguments are presented.
He cited past instances, such as the BT Talong case, where decisions were reversed, though such outcomes are uncommon.
Cuaresma emphasized that a motion for reconsideration remains a valid legal remedy and a right of Dela Rosa’s camp to pursue.
However, he noted that in most cases he has observed, it is difficult to change the Court’s ruling without sufficient new grounds.
