CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Six canine handlers from RMFB 10 and 6 explosives detection dogs have graduated from a 6-month rigorous training during a simple ceremony in RMFB 10 Headquarters, Camp Capistrano, Gusa, Cagayan de Oro City, on Wednesday.
Police Brig. General Rafael Santiago, Jr., PRO 10 Regional Director, administered the graduation rights of Class 2018-01 “Matatag” after satisfactorily completed all the requirements needed for the Basic K9 Handler’s Training.
In his message, Brig. Gen. Santiago expressed his desire to open another trainings for K9 handlers and other counter-terrorism trainings that would make RMFB 10 a more capable and effective anti-terrorism unit in the region.
“It is a must that a maneuvering unit like RMFB 10, should be fully equipped with all the necessary skills and trainings to be able to effectively respond to any crisis situation” he said
He even added, that trainings for drugs-sniffing dogs should also be conducted to address the drug menace in the country.
On his part, Police Col. Rolindo Suguilon, the Force Commander, stated that these newly trained bomb-sniffing dogs will be very useful in the fight against terrorism especially now that the PNP personnel of PRO 10 have been placed on full alert status following the Sulu blast.
During the ceremony, the handlers were given the time to demonstrate how attentive and responsive their dogs are to their commands and how competent they are in finding a box with explosive components. (RMFB)
