The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Misamis Oriental plans to bring to Congress the issue of illegal mining allegedly orchestrated by some municipal officials in Initao, Misamis Oriental. This move was prompted by the absence of capitol representatives during the investigation yesterday.
SP-Misamis Oriental Public Order Committee Chairman, 2nd District Board Member Dexter Yasay, emphasized that it is their duty to protect the interests of the people, especially since public funds were used to purchase the provincial equipment now suspected of being misused.
Earlier, certain personalities reportedly close to the office of Misamis Oriental Governor Juliette Uy were revealed to be linked to the controversy.
