Traditional jeepney drivers in Cagayan de Oro have expressed opposition to the implementation of the government’s service contracting program, citing that many of them have yet to receive financial aid or fuel subsidies.
In an interview with Bombo Radyo, Emmanuel Espinosa, president of the Bonbon Drivers Association (BONODA), said problems persist in the distribution system, leaving several drivers without benefits. He added that the lack of clear support from both local and national programs has worsened their situation.
Espinosa also raised concerns over the use of digital platforms in subsidy distribution, warning that it could open new avenues for corruption.
As a result, some drivers remain excluded from aid, while those who do receive it find the amount insufficient.
